Week 3

2 Natural Disasters: Flood and earthquake will be the 2 most suitable natural disasters for the idea i want to implement.

What parts of the building will break? I will make the building lean forward by destroying 3 poles which holds the building in place. I will try and make the chimney fall down inside the house.Windows glass will be cracked and shattered all over the place.

What will grow / spread across the building's remaining surfaces?  I will add cracks and holes to the concrete walls. There will be mosses around the corners and other parts of the building. Rust, stains and molds will be all around the building. Dirt will be on the any glass for example: windows

What would be cool to make the process of decay interactive? Might add some animals like spiders, crows or bats to inhabit the house. Parts of the first floor will fall to the ground floor. Stairs will collapse when stepped on.

What evidence of the building being lived in will you carefully reveal to the viewer? photographs, furniture, clothes, cigarette buds

Will you leave evidence of what disaster caused the building to be abandoned? Sandbags will be shown in different parts of the building.

Before

 After

Concrete

-process of making the material: composed primarily of aggregate, cement and water.
-how long will it last: for a long time (depending on the environment)
-what makes them corrode: acid rain
-structural pros: recyclable, cheap
-structural cons: has weak tension and shear
-what they are typically used for: architectural structures, brick/block walls, foundations, bridges, roads,  footings
-environmental impacts: greenhouse gas emissions

Glass

-process of making the material:  involves two main methods – the float glass process which produces sheet glass and glass blowing.
-how long will it last: long time
-what makes them corrode: chemicals
-structural pros: can be manipulated using a variety of ways to increase the appeal of the material
-what they are typically used for: windows, mirrors
-environmental impacts: recyclable and dangerous if glass shatters

Steel

-process of making the material: Combining iron and other elements

-how long will it last: Long life span

-what makes them corrode: Water and air makes them rust

-structural pros: Strong and very good structural material

-structural cons: Losses strength in high temperature
-what they are typically used for: Architecture, bridges and vehicles

Week 5

Strategy

The idea of making my trailer "The great Calamity" came form the movie 2012. So i wanted to make my island to have magical power from a tornado which is aging the vegetation on the island and there is only one man who can save the island by blowing the ruins i added around the tornado. My two combinations which are [ I ] and [ 7 ]. The paths i added on the island are all in a shape of number [ 7 ] if looked at from far away. Then i used the letter [ 7 ] and the letter [ I ] on mushrooms, plants and rocks. I also those 2 combination engraved on different parts of the island.
